Adelanto, CA (November 22, 2022) – On Friday morning, November 18, an accident involving an SUV and a semi-truck was reported in Adelanto that resulted in serious injuries.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department reported that in the morning, around 6:15 a.m., an accident occurred in the area of Kemper Avenue and Stevens Street. The accident occurred when a semi-truck traveled into the intersection and collided with an SUV that entered the intersection at the same time. Due to the force of the impact, the SUV sustained major damage. There were traffic delays in the area, and traffic was diverted as clean-up efforts were underway.

Multiple emergency personnel agencies were called to the scene. First responders arrived at the scene and found the woman driving the SUV and two other occupants trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle. Firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate the three victims. The female driver and a child were both airlifted to a hospital for further treatment. A third person sustained injuries and was treated at the scene of the accident. There is no information at this time as to whether the truck driver sustained any injuries in the accident.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The area was shut down for many hours as crews worked to tend to the injured victims, clear the wreckage, and investigate the accidents.

Truck Accidents in California

The trucking industry is a prominent part of California’s economy. Many truck companies operate their business well and follow all the applicable federal and state laws that are put in place to ensure safety. Unfortunately, many companies put profits ahead of safety and don’t follow all the laws governing the industry. Companies will pressure their truck drivers to deliver cargo in unrealistic time frames to increase the company’s profits. As a result, truck drivers are forced to skip rests and speed to make timely deliveries. This is illegal. There are specific federal laws that dictate how many hours a truck driver can drive before requiring a rest. Driving fatigued or speeding makes accidents more likely to occur.

It’s important to understand that the truck and insurance companies are not on your side. Truck companies are required to carry large insurance policies because of the potential for grave damage that can be caused if a truck is in an accident. The truck company does not want to pay out a large amount on your claim. They don’t want to risk their premiums increasing or being dropped by their insurance company.

Therefore, their main goal is to always avoid liability and minimize costs, and they have a team of lawyers that will help them achieve that goal. Many different parties can be at fault when there is a truck accident, which can make truck accident cases and determining liability complicated. It is best to have an experienced truck accident attorney on your side who can help you fight the insurance company to get the compensation you deserve. A truck accident attorney can investigate your case, speak to eyewitnesses, and secure evidence documenting the negligence of the trucking company.
