Arvin, CA (September 13, 2022) – On Friday, September 9, three people died following a crash that occurred with a semi-truck at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Malaga Rd.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident occurred, at about 10 p.m. when a semi-truck failed to stop at an intersection and struck an older Honda vehicle. The force of the impact propelled both the truck and the sedan through the intersection. The Honda crashed head-on into a utility pole. The vehicles were significantly damaged by the impact.
Emergency personnel was immediately called to the scene. There were three occupants in the Honda that sustained gravely serious injuries. Officials report that all three occupants were sadly killed as a result of the accident. Their names have not been released at this time to allow authorities time to contact next of kin.
The driver of the tractor-trailer did not sustain any injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are under further investigation by local authorities. The area was closed down into the early morning hours of Saturday as crews tended to victims and cleared the wreckage.
