Bakersfield, CA (September 9, 2022) – On Thursday morning, September 8, one person died and one other person was injured following a crash that occurred with a semi-truck on Copus Road near I-5.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident occurred, at about 6:45 a.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound was trying to pass a semi-truck. During the attempted passing, the vehicle and the semi-truck collided. As a result of the collision, the vehicle was forced from the roadway and overturned. The accident left a substantial amount of wreckage and debris at the scene.
Emergency personnel was immediately called to the scene. Paramedics and firefighters responded quickly and worked to help the people from their vehicles and tend to their injuries. A passenger in the vehicle sustained severe injuries and sadly died at the scene of the accident. Another person, the driver of the vehicle, sustained moderate injuries. There is no information regarding whether the driver of the semi-truck sustained injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are under further investigation by local authorities.
