Cabazon, CA – Injury Accident with Semi-Truck on I-10

Cabazon, CA (November 8, 2022) – On Saturday evening, November 5, an accident involving a semi-truck was reported on the I-10 freeway that resulted in serious injuries.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that in the evening around 10 p.m. an accident was reported on the eastbound I-10 freeway, near Cabazon. For reasons that are still being investigated, a semi-truck was in a collision. There is no word at this time as to how many vehicles were involved in the accident. As a result of the collisions, the semi-truck overturned and was severely damaged which caused it to leak a substantial amount of fuel.

Multiple emergency personnel agencies were called to the scene. Paramedics were called to the scene and assessed those involved in the accident for injuries. The police have not reported at this time any information regarding injuries sustained by those involved in the accident.

There were significant delays in the area. Due to the leaking fuel, the area was shut down completely for 5 hours so that crews could clean up the fuel and remove the vehicles and debris, and tend to the injured. Heavy-duty tow trucks were also required to respond to the accident to remove the semi-truck.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and its causes.

Our thoughts are with anyone who has been injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Truck Accidents in California

California’s roads and highways are filled with many unwanted hazards. Californians experience long commutes, drivers traveling at high speeds, and oftentimes gridlock traffic jams occur. But another hazard that Californians often face is the giant commercial trucks that travel the roads. These trucks further add to the congestion and gridlock.

Fuel trucks are a common sight on the highways. They are essential to transporting fuel around the state, but they also can be an added hazard to avoid on the road. Since fuel trucks are so large, they can be much more difficult to control and maneuver. Given their large size, when they are involved in accidents, they can cause a lot of damage, which makes the risk of serious injury very high. In addition to their size being a factor, since they are holding a large amount of combustible liquid, it is easy to see how dangerous an accident can be with one of these trucks. When a tanker is in an accident there is a high risk for a HAZMAT spill, fires, explosions, or natural gas exposure to occur. These substances may be highly hazardous to the public and the environment.

Due to these hazards, truck drivers must be expertly trained. The trucking industry is regulated by federal law, which has rules in place designed to ensure safe operations. Truck drivers also receive extensive training. However, despite the rigorous training and federal oversight, truck accidents happen frequently. Some common causes include speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, fatigued driving, and impaired driving. Serious truck accidents can also be caused by poor handling, extreme weather, shifting cargo, difficulty breaking and stopping in emergencies, and hazards on the roadway.

If you’ve been injured in a truck accident that was not your fault, discuss your legal options with an experienced attorney who can determine if you may be entitled to compensation for the injuries and suffering caused by the accident. The liable party may be required to help pay for your medical bills, lost wages, vehicle repair or replacement, and other damages you’ve suffered.
