Fatal Truck Accidents in California

Motorcycles are a very common mode of transportation in California. California leads the country with more than 800,000 registered motorcycles in the state, which has increased over the years. Motorcycles are very commonly ridden in California for several reasons, including the state’s favorable year-round climate, beautiful scenery, historic roads, and low fuel and maintenance costs. Motorcyclists are entitled to share the roadways. Drivers owe a duty of care to each other to operate their vehicles in a way to minimize the risk of danger to the other drivers on the road. Drivers also owe a duty of care to watch for motorcyclists and respect their space.

Thousands of commercial trucks travel on California’s roads each day. Trucks can be difficult to control and maneuver and have a longer stopping time than other vehicles. Trucks are frequently in accidents as a result. The increased presence of trucks and motorcycles on California’s roadways has led to an increase in accidents involving the two. Sadly, when trucks and motorcycles are involved in an accident, the motorcyclist often sustains severe injuries or death, due to the size discrepancy between the two vehicles. Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable in an accident since there is nothing surrounding them, like the frame of a car, to shield them from a sudden impact.

After a trucking accident, a truck company wants to minimize the amount of money they have to pay to the victim. Many different parties can be at fault when there is a truck accident, including the truck driver, trucking company, manufacturer, or cargo loaders. All of these factors can make truck accident cases and determining liability complex since each party will be pointing blame elsewhere. Therefore, having an experienced truck accident attorney evaluate your case is best.
