Los Angeles, CA – Injuries Follow Hit-and-Run Crash with Food Truck, Metro Bus, and Multiple Vehicles at 18th St & Broadway

Los Angeles, CA (September 19, 2022) – On Friday morning, September 16, an accident involving a food truck, metro bus, and multiple other vehicles was reported at 18th Street and Broadway.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that around 2:30 a.m. an accident was reported at 18th Street and Broadway that closed off the area for many hours. The accident was reportedly caused by a vehicle that fled the scene. This vehicle caused a food truck to collide head-on with a metro bus, and then multiple other vehicles subsequently collided as they were trying to avoid the initial collision. Police are still searching for the driver of the vehicle responsible for the initial accident.

The impact of the crash caused significant damage to the involved vehicles. There were significant traffic delays in the area Friday. Lanes were blocked and traffic was diverted as clean-up efforts required extensive effort.

Multiple emergency personnel agencies were called to the scene. EMT personnel were also called to the scene to care for those injured. A 70-year-old male passenger on the metro bus was injured and taken to the hospital for further treatment of his injuries. The driver of the food truck was also injured and treated at the scene of the accident. Information about any other injuries sustained in the accident has not been released at this time.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and its causes.

Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Food Truck Accidents in California

California is the most populated state in the country and has some of the largest and busiest metropolitan areas. When traveling California’s roads, you’ll notice the presence of many different modes of transportation, including large commercial trucks, tractor-trailers, school buses, and metro buses, to highlight a few. Trucks and buses of all varieties are very large and can be difficult to control and maneuver at times, for even the most skilled drivers, which leads to accidents that happen all too often. Each type of truck or bus has its own set of complexities that make them difficult to handle, but given their large size, the universal trend is that when they are involved in accidents, they can cause a lot of damage and the risk of serious injury is very high.

In the last decade, food trucks have become increasingly popular as well. California has the most registered food trucks of any other state in the nation. Food trucks are a growing trend that people love for the easy access to outstanding food they bring, but they do also come with certain undesirable hazards as well. Food trucks make the roads busier; they also are much larger and heavier with more blind spots than other vehicles. The drivers are also potentially more distracted than other drivers as they look up directions to their next stop, or are drowsy after a long day, working in the hot kitchen of the food truck. Sometimes, food trucks do not appear to be maintained as well as other vehicles, which can also cause accidents.

After an accident, the insurance company’s main goal is to avoid liability and minimize the amount of money they have to pay as a result of the damage caused by their insured driver. Many different parties can be at fault when there is a multi-vehicle accident, which can make determining liability more complicated, as each party’s attorneys will be pointing blame at one of the other parties involved. It is best to have an experienced truck accident attorney evaluate your case, who can help you fight the insurance company’s team of lawyers. The liable party may be required to help pay for your medical bills, lost wages, vehicle repair or replacement, and other damages you’ve suffered.
