Truck Accidents in California

The trucking industry is a fundamental part of life and business in California. As such, a large portion of the traffic on California’s highways are commercial trucks. California’s roads are very congested due to California’s large population, and truck traffic increases this congestion. Trucks are very large and can be harder to control, which causes them to frequently be involved in accidents. Due to their large size and weight, trucks can cause much damage when in accidents. When vehicles are involved in accidents with trucks, the risk of serious injury for the occupants of the vehicle increases exponentially.

Truck drivers are required to have a commercial truck license that requires them to complete a specific training regimen to receive. Federal law regulates the trucking industry and has specific regulations regarding truck operation. However, despite the training and high standards, accidents frequently happen for many different reasons. Some common causes are speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, driving while fatigued due to long hours on the road, and impaired driving. Serious truck accidents can also be caused by poor handling during extreme weather, shifting cargo, difficulty breaking and stopping the truck in sudden situations, and hazards on the roadway.

Being in a truck accident can be a traumatic event in your life. You shouldn’t have to handle the stress, confusion, and worry by yourself. If you or a loved one were in a trucking accident caused by someone else’s negligence, speak to a knowledgeable truck accident lawyer, who will walk you through the next steps and help you get what you may be entitled to as compensation for your injuries. Insurance companies have quick deadlines following an accident. An attorney can help you with filing the appropriate paperwork to get the process started. The negligent party may be required to help pay for your medical bills, lost wages, vehicle repair or replacement, and other damages you’ve suffered.
