Fatal Truck Accidents in California

Garbage trucks are an essential part of daily life and provide an important service for the people of our state. However, these trucks are massive and can be difficult to maneuver and control through neighborhoods. Truck accidents happen frequently in the state. Sadly, the frequency of accidents involving trucks and pedestrians is increasing. Given their large size when pedestrians are hit by a large truck, it often results in the pedestrian sustaining devastating injuries or death.

All drivers, including truck drivers, are imposed with the requirement to safely operate their vehicles, which is called a duty of care under the law. This expectation is in place because great bodily harm can be caused by negligently operating a vehicle. A driver’s duty of care to not cause harm includes not causing harm to pedestrians also. All drivers must maintain a proper lookout for pedestrians and operate their vehicles in such a manner to maintain control and avoid hitting or causing harm to a pedestrian on the sidewalk, crosswalk, road, or wherever else they come in contact with the pedestrian. This duty of care is breached when a pedestrian is hit.

When losing a loved one in a truck accident, you are filled with overwhelming feelings of shock and sadness. There is nothing more devastating than the unexpected and tragic loss of a family member. When you lose a loved one, we understand that no amount of money could replace that person in your life.
