San Bernardino, CA – Two Killed in Accident with Cargo Truck on I-210

San Bernardino, CA (November 2, 2022) – On Tuesday morning, November 1, two people were killed following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred involving two sedans, an SUV, and a large commercial cargo truck on Interstate 210 in San Bernardino.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident occurred, around 1:15 a.m., on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 210, just west of Waterman Avenue, when first a Honda sedan and the commercial truck collided in lanes 2 and 3 of the interstate. Subsequently, a Jeep SUV could not avoid the crash and collided with the Honda sedan. Another sedan crashed into the Honda as well. The Honda was incredibly mangled from the multiple collisions.

Emergency personnel was immediately called to the scene. The Honda sedan had two occupants, a man, and a woman. Both people sadly died at the scene of the accident. Another person in a different vehicle suffered serious injuries that required they be transported by ambulance to a hospital for further care. There is no information at this time as to whether the occupants of the other two vehicles sustained injuries in the accident.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are under further investigation by local authorities. The officials blocked lanes of the Interstate for many hours as the accident was cleared and investigated.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this tragedy.

Our thoughts are also with the other person injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Fatal Truck Accidents in California

Commercial trucks of all varieties are regularly seen on California’s roads and highways and commercial cargo trucks are just one of the many types. California has many businesses and industries operating in the region, and cargo trucks are used by many businesses to deliver goods and materials throughout the state.

California’s busy highways are not only riddled with backups and delays but often are the site of multiple-vehicle collisions. California is filled with many complex freeways that pass through urban areas and have multiple lanes of traffic. As the congestion on these roads increases, and as drivers seem to be driving faster and faster, cars can weave in and out of traffic and seem to come out of nowhere. In addition to the structure of the roadways that make them more challenging to traverse, there are other factors that increase the likelihood of multi-vehicle collisions, including:

  • Following too closely
  • High speeds
  • Changing lanes without signaling
  • Blind spots
  • Changing lanes too quickly
  • Stopping suddenly
  • Inclement weather
  • Large commercial trucks failure to merge

Especially when commercial trucks are involved in a multi-car pile-up, the outcomes are often devastating, resulting in very serious injuries or fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 80 percent of deadly crashes involving large trucks were multi-vehicle crashes.
