San Diego, CA – Serious Accident Involving Big Rig on I-15

San Diego, CA (November 11, 2022) – On Tuesday afternoon, November 8, an accident involving a big rig was reported on Interstate 15.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that in the afternoon around 12:30 p.m. an accident was reported on the northbound I-15 freeway, in San Diego, just south of Interstate 8. The accident happened when a semi-truck was involved in an accident that caused it to roll. The overturned semi blocked three lanes of traffic and partially landed on Camino Del Rio. The semi-truck was carrying between 20,000 to 30,000 pounds of dirt.

Multiple emergency personnel agencies were called to the scene. Paramedics responded to the crash and assessed all parties involved for injuries. This is a developing story, and at this time we do not have information regarding how many people were injured or the extent of their injuries.

There were significant delays in the area and much damage and debris on the roadway. The accident required traffic to be diverted for a long period of time as clean-up efforts required extensive effort.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and its causes.

Our thoughts are with anyone who has been injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Truck Accidents in California

The trucking industry is prominent in California and an important part of the success of California’s economy. As such, large commercial trucks are regularly seen on California’s highways at all times of the day. Tractor-trailers are much larger than other vehicles, often weighing more than ten times that of the other vehicles on the road. Especially when they are fully loaded with cargo. Given their size, when commercial trucks are in accidents, they can cause great damage and inflict significant, catastrophic harm on all who are in the accident. Common injuries after a truck accident include:

  • Back and Neck Injuries
  • Cuts, Bruises, Broken Bones, and Lacerations
  • Burn Injuries
  • Head Injuries
  • Internal Injuries
  • Amputations and Disfigurement
  • Spinal Cord Injuries and Paralysis

Truck accidents happen too frequently in California. There are many reasons why truck accidents happen. Some of the most common causes are speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, driving while fatigued due to long hours on the road, and impaired driving. Serious truck accidents can also be caused by poor handling during extreme weather, shifting cargo, difficulty breaking and stopping the truck in emergencies, and hazards on the roadway.

It’s important to remember that insurance companies are not on your side after an accident. The trucking company is also not on your side. These big companies do not want to pay a lot on a personal injury claim and will do whatever it takes to protect their wallet. They may offer you an initial settlement and may pressure you to accept that lowball offer. The insurance adjuster will try to tell you that your claim is not worth any more than what they’ve offered or will try to get you to accept some of the blame for the accident. However, it is in your best interest not to speak to the insurance company adjustor without legal representation. Never sign an agreement with an insurance adjuster without first speaking to an experienced truck accident attorney, who will fight for your rights and get you the compensation you deserve for your injuries.

If you were in a truck accident, speak to an experienced truck accident lawyer right away. Contact a San Diego tractor-trailer accident attorney by calling (949) 536-9467 to see how we can help you.
