Fatal Truck Accidents in California

Southern California is a very populated metropolitan area, where many businesses and industries operate. Armored trucks transport money and other valuable assets for countless businesses in the region. These armored trucks are very heavy and sturdy vehicles focusing on securing and protecting the assets inside. As such, they can weigh up to 50,000 lbs. or more. Despite the focus on security, accidents involving armored trucks occur more frequently than one might think. The average car on the road only weighs around 4,000 lbs. Therefore, since trucks are much larger than ordinary passenger vehicles when accidents occur, serious injuries or fatalities frequently occur.

The presence of large trucks on the highways increases California’s already clogged roads and increases the likelihood of accidents occurring. It is always important to drive carefully, but especially important to exercise caution when driving around large trucks, to keep yourself and the other motorists on the road safe. Some common reasons accidents happen include frequent stops, distracted driving, speeding, tailgating, driving while fatigued, and impaired driving. Serious truck accidents can also be caused by poor handling during inclement weather, obstacles on the roadway, and the inability to stop when braking suddenly.
