Motorcyclist Injured in Clovis Truck Accident

HESPERIA, CALIFORNIA (February 17, 2026) – A motorcyclist has tragically died in a Hesperia truck accident by the intersection of Phelan Road and Highway 295.

San Bernardino County authorities are saying that the collision took place around 11:45 a.m. on February 10. A motorcyclist and pickup truck were both heading down the road when they were involved in a collision for undetermined reasons.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. Despite life-saving measures, the motorcycle rider died due to the severe nature of his injuries.

A full investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Hesperia Truck Accidents

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid colliding with any vehicle in the roadway. This requires that they operate their vehicle at a safe speed at all times. According to California Vehicle Code 22350, “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.” Many different factors could contribute to a car accident.

  • Fatigue: Drivers are more likely to be involved in a crash if they are fatigued. Some studies have suggested that remaining awake for extended periods can reduce a person’s ability to drive safely, equal to driving while intoxicated.
  • Inclement Weather: A large portion of collisions take place during periods of inclement weather.
  • Vehicle System Failures: Many car accidents are due to vehicle system failures. This can include instances where the brakes on a vehicle go out or the tire goes flat.
  • Poor Road Conditions: Defects in a roadway could potentially cause a driver to lose control and collide with another vehicle.

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a motorcyclist or other vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Liability for a collision could extend beyond any driver deemed to be at fault. For example, the company that created the motorcycle could bear some level of responsibility for a collision. This may be the case if some type of defect with the motorcycle caused a driver to lose control.

Steps to Take After Hesperia Truck Accidents

Motor vehicle collisions remain a major cause of preventable injury and death in the United States. According to the IIHS, “A total of 40,901 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2023. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s most recent estimate of the annual economic cost of crashes is $340 billion.” Multiple steps should be taken after any Hesperia truck accident.

  • The police should be called to the scene so that they can begin an immediate investigation.
  • Photos of the accident site should be taken. These can help reveal what may have led up to a collision.
  • Any person that may have witnessed the crash should be interviewed as early as possible.
  • The family of any person who died in a car accident should contact a team with experience in tort claims.

Car accidents are often highly preventable. They tend to involve major safety lapses. The factors that contribute to any particular truck accident could take place hours, days, or even weeks beforehand. It is important that the family members of any person who died in a collision understand that they do have legal rights. They are able to seek some measure of justice and accountability through a civil claim.
