Beaumont, CA – Injury Reported in Accident Involving Big Rig on 60 FWY

Beaumont, CA (November 6, 2022) – On Friday evening, November 4, an accident involving a big rig and a sedan was reported on the 60 freeway that resulted in one person sustaining serious injury.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that in the morning evening around 5:15 p.m. an accident was reported on the westbound I-60 freeway, in Beaumont, in the area near Jack Rabbit Trail. The accident happened when a semi-truck entered the same space as another Honda causing a collision. As a result of the force of the collision, the Honda flipped and came to a rest upside down near the inside shoulder of the freeway. The driver of the Honda was ejected from their vehicle.

Multiple emergency personnel agencies were called to the scene. Paramedics responded to the crash and located the Honda driver out of the car in the roadway, suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics rushed the Honda driver to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for emergency care. The truck driver did not suffer any injuries in the accident.

There were significant delays in the area and much damage and resulting debris on the roadway. The accident required traffic to be diverted for a time as clean-up efforts required extensive effort.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and its causes.

Our thoughts are with all those who have been injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Truck Accidents in California

The trucking industry is prominent in California and large commercial trucks are a very common sight on California’s highways. Since tractor-trailers are much larger than other vehicles on the roads, they can be much more difficult to control and maneuver. Given their large size, when they are involved in accidents, they can cause a lot of damage, which also makes the risk of serious injury very high.

The trucking industry is regulated by federal law, which puts rules in place to ensure safe operations. Truck drivers are also given extensive training in truck operation. However, despite the rigorous training and federal oversight governing the industry, truck accidents happen too frequently. Some common causes are speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, driving while fatigued due to long hours on the road, and impaired driving. Serious truck accidents can also be caused by poor handling during extreme weather, shifting cargo, difficulty breaking and stopping the truck in emergencies, and hazards on the roadway.

It’s important to remember that insurance companies are not on your side after an accident. The trucking company responsible for the truck that was involved in the accident is also not on your side. These are big companies that have a lot of money on the line, and they will do whatever it takes to protect their wallet. They may offer you an initial settlement and may pressure you to accept that offer. The insurance adjuster will try to tell you that your claim is not worth any more than what they’ve offered or will try to get you to accept some of the blame for the accident. However, it is in your best interest not to speak to the insurance company adjustor without legal representation. Never sign an agreement with an insurance adjuster without first speaking to an experienced truck accident attorney.

If you were in a truck accident you should speak to an experienced truck accident lawyer right away. Contact a Beaumont tractor-trailer accident attorney by calling (949) 536-9467 to see how we can help you.
