Los Angeles Fire Department Firefighter Died in Whittier Collision With Big Rig on the Northbound 605 Freeway
WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA (July 30, 2026) – An off-duty Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter has tragically died in a Whittier semi-truck accident on the 605 Freeway.
Los Angeles County officials are saying that the incident occurred around 2:20 AM on Friday. The victim was driving a pickup truck when he was involved in a collision with a big rig.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help the man. Tragically, the off-duty firefighter was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe blunt traumatic injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
