CHP Recommends That Truck Driver Be Charged for Fatal Collision on Highway 99 That Killed 23-Year-Old Man
LODI, CALIFORNIAÂ (September 14, 2026)Â – A 23-year-old man identified as Johnatan Cervantes Torres has tragically died in a Lodi semi-truck accident along Highway 99 near Jahant Road.
The California Highway Patrol said that the collision occurred around noon on September 2. A preliminary investigation of the collision found that one of the big rigs involved began slowing in the number two lane when a pickup truck was stopped or slowed in the number one lane.
A second pickup truck, pulling a trailer, was also stopped or slowing for the traffic ahead of it. CHP said that a second big rig truck failed to slow for traffic and hit the pickup truck carrying Johnatan Cervantes Torres.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help all of the victims. Unfortunately, Johnatan Cervantes Torres died due to the severe nature of his injuries.
California Highway Patrol officials have recommended charges against the big rig driver that caused the collision. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
